There's something quietly magnificent about a desk accessory that outlasts empires. This antique French inkwell arrived in our shop straight from a French sourcing trip — the kind of piece that sat on a serious desk, in a serious study, belonging to someone who chose their objects with intention.
The star-cut crystal base catches light the way only hand-cut glass can — fractured and alive, never flat. A pierced brass gallery wraps the perimeter like a small architectural fence, and four brass bun feet lift the whole thing just enough to give it presence. The domed brass cap is original, with the warm patina that only a century of handling can produce.
This is a Belle Époque object through and through: refined without being fussy, functional without being plain.
