set-of-4-eric-buch-modrl-49-dining-chairs
Set of 4 Eric Buch Modrl 49 Dining Chairs

Four Danish dining chairs by Erik Buch, found locally and offered in original condition. These chairs were designed by Buch for Odense Mobelfabrik and sold at the Greenbelt Maryland co-op in 1971. The co-op eventually evolved into the well known SCAN FURNITURE STORE of the 70s and 80s. These chairs are an early example.

These have everything people love about his work: sculpted solid teak frames with softly tapered legs, gently curved backrests, and a floating, lightweight look that keeps a dining room feeling open.

The black vinyl upholstery is original, as is the warm teak, which has aged into a rich, honeyed patina. Each seat and back is cushioned and comfortable for long dinners. Buch's design is also quietly clever. The backrest floats between the frame's side supports, and the seat is lifted by the frame's sculpted joinery, which gives the chairs a graceful, sculptural profile from every angle.

A true set of four is hard to find, and these will work with just about anything: a teak draw-leaf table, a round pedestal, or a modern farmhouse table. Their clean lines also make them great for a kitchen, a breakfast nook, or a home office.

Why you'll love them:

Set of 4 Danish dining chairs by Erik Buch

Solid teak frames with sculpted, tapered legs

Original black vinyl seats and backs

Original vintage condition with a warm, natural patina

Lightweight and easy to move, with plenty of comfort

Dimensions (each):

These chairs are being sold in original, unrestored condition, so expect some age-appropriate wear.
